Citizens Say 'Thank You' to Commanders

My family and I would like to take a minute and thank you for your service to our nation. All too often the men and women of our National Guard are forgotten about during troubled times at home when headlines change from saluting our heroes and calls of patriotism to bailouts for Banks and the Auto Industry.

My wife Diana and I, having never served in the military, are so very inspired by the fact that National Guard is an all-volunteer force. Men and women from all walks of life have in this time of war taken upon themselves the responsibility of defending this great nation against the evil that seeks only to destroy freedom loving people around the world, knowing that at any moment they could be called upon to pay the ultimate price for freedom they still proudly serve.

We can find no words to express, as ordinary Americans, how grateful and appreciative we are for all of OUR Soldiers and Airmen who have volunteered to take on such a daunting task. This speaks to the character of all of our men and women in the National Guard, and that character only comes from exceptional leadership. Yours has to be one of the most difficult and demanding jobs in the world. We can’t imagine the decisions you have to make on a daily basis and the hardships you face as a commander of so many young men and women.

Diana and I thank you for your willingness to stand and make the difficult decisions that must be made in times like these. We pray God will ease the burdens that are placed upon you, and bless you with peace and confidence.

Please know that we are grateful we have people like you leading the men and women of the National Guard and our prayers are always with you.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Steve & Diana Rogge
